These instructions can change depending upon the model of Hampton Bay ceiling fan that you pick. For the best instruction set, you should refer to the manual and/or instructions that came with your fan. That is always the best way to go about. In the event you cannot find the original documentation that came with the fan purchase, then try taking a look on Google for your model. Not sure of your model? You can find it on the bottom housing or sometimes inside of the housing of the fan.
The below instructions are a general instruction for installing a Hampton Bay fan.
Part 1 – Installation of the Mounting for the Ceiling Fan
You’ll want to slowly loosen the two screws, that reside on top of the motor assembly. These are in the “collar” which is a circle that actually looks like
Next you’ll want to remove the canopy ring. This is done by turning the right to the right. After doing this, and unscrewing the canopy ring, it will unlock.
The next step is to remove the mounting plate. The mounting plate is on the top of the canopy. You’ll want to loosen the four screws here.
Once that’s done, the non-slotted screws should be removed by a screwdriver. You can then remove the mounting plate.

- Try to keep the fan balanced so there is no fan wobble at all when the fan is moving.
Mounting the Fan to the Ceiling
- 2/4 screws were removed in this installation as two of the screws were for packaging only. It was easier to install the mounting with the two remaining scews.
- Try to keep the washers where they are
